Salesforce Principal Consultant, USA (remote)

Position Description

Saltbox Mgmt is hiring a Salesforce B2B Commerce Principal Consultant who acts as the primary client-facing hands-on delivery lead and is accountable for what is built, why it is built that way, and the overall project.

‍Responsibilities:

Engagement Ownership & Solution Leadership

  • Own the success of assigned client engagements, serving as the single accountable owner for scope, value delivery, solution quality, and overall customer satisfaction.

  • Lead structured discovery and definition efforts to uncover, validate, and document client objectives, requirements, and end-to-end business processes.

  • Translate complex business needs into clear, scalable Salesforce solution designs, including process flows, use cases, user stories, functional designs, and test scenarios.

  • Provide expert guidance on Salesforce platform capabilities, cloud-specific best practices, and configuration standards to ensure solutions are durable and future-ready.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to client stakeholders, helping refine use cases, prioritize scope by business value, and make informed tradeoffs under real-world constraints.


Delivery Leadership & Execution

  • Drive end-to-end delivery execution, ensuring alignment across scope, timeline, quality, risk management, and client expectations.

  • Partner with Project Managers and Technical Architects on larger or more complex engagements to coordinate delivery mechanics and technical integrity.

  • On smaller or more contained engagements, directly execute project management responsibilities, including planning, timelines, resourcing, budgeting, delivery rituals, communication plans, and issue/risk tracking.

  • Serve as the first escalation point for delivery, scope, or expectation risks, making clear decisions and course corrections as needed.

  • Contribute to estimating, forecasting, and resource planning across engagements, ensuring delivery plans are realistic and aligned to client value.


Team Enablement & Solution Validation

  • Provide direction and clarity to delivery teams by refining requirements, supporting backlog grooming, and ensuring alignment to functional design and business outcomes.

  • Design and present future-state recommendations that address current challenges while supporting long-term scalability and growth.

  • Create and deliver targeted demos and solution walkthroughs that clearly articulate value and validate proposed designs.

Highest Standards: Lead solution design and delivery with rigor, ensuring implementations align with Salesforce best practices and Saltbox quality standards.

People First: Enable delivery teams and partners through clear direction, thoughtful prioritization, and respectful collaboration, whether partnering with a Project Manager or directly managing delivery on smaller engagements.

Curiosity & Innovation: Bring a learning mindset to discovery and solutioning, applying platform knowledge and creative problem-solving to deliver scalable, future-ready solutions.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise:

  • 5+ years of Salesforce consulting experience delivering solutions for external clients in roles such as Principal Consultant, Functional Lead, or Senior Business Analyst.

  • Proven engagement and delivery ownership, including leading discovery, shaping functional solution direction, and owning delivery outcomes across client engagements.

  • Strong functional Salesforce expertise with relevant certifications, including Salesforce Administrator certification; experience with B2B Commerce Cloud is highly preferred, with Experience Cloud or comparable core Salesforce experience required. Additional Salesforce Consulting certifications are a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead delivery in varied contexts, partnering with Project Managers and Technical Architects on complex engagements and directly managing delivery execution on smaller engagements as needed.

  • Executive-level communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence decisions and build trust with client managers, directors, and VPs.

  • Sound problem-solving judgment, with a track record of navigating ambiguity, identifying risks, and driving effective solutions.

  • Experience working in agile delivery environments, using tools such as Jira and Confluence.

  • Willingness to travel up to 15%, as client needs require.
